Senate Sets Hearing Date for Crypto Ally CFTC Chair Nominee

The Senate Agriculture Committee has scheduled a June 10 hearing to evaluate Brian Quintenz, President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Quintenz, a former CFTC commissioner from 2017 to 2021, WOULD take the helm during a period of significant transition at the agency.

The CFTC currently operates with just two confirmed commissioners following recent resignations. Acting leadership has signaled impending departures, suggesting Quintenz's confirmation could trigger a broader leadership overhaul.

Quintenz brings clear crypto credentials to the role. Since 2021, he has served as head of policy for Andreessen Horowitz's a16z Crypto, advocating for lighter digital asset regulation. He has consistently argued that crypto oversight falls under CFTC jurisdiction rather than the SEC's.
